Dear Visitor(s),
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to this official web site of the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania (Tanzania) in Rome, Italy. This web site as you can see, is the Embassy's efforts to reach out to you. In reaching out to you the Embassy plays a double role that of inviting you to Tanzania and that of bringing Tanzania, though in a nutshell, to you. As a matter of fact the major intention here is to attract and convince you to physically visit Tanzania, a country on the western shores of the Indian Ocean, known for its peace, stability and the gentle hospitality of its people.
Tanzania is sometimes described as a part of the Garden of Eden. This description comes from the fact that the Great Rift Valley running from the North to the South passes through a large part of the country. The Great Rift Valley is known for its blue cones of many volcanic peaks and spectacular lakes. The Kilimanjaro, Africa's snow capped highest mountain, referred to often as the "Roof of Africa" is found within the boundaries of Tanzania. The Olduvai Gorge, supposedly the original place of man and where the remains of Zinjanthropus and Homo habilis were excavated in the mid of last century, is perched between two famous places in Tanzania namely, Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. The Serengeti, the Manyara and Selous, to mention but a few, are famous if not rare animal kingdoms. The Ngorongoro Crater, a wonder of its own and a world heritage, inhabited by millions of wild life, gives Tanzania its fame. Tanzania is therefore a home to rare flora and fauna and serves as a paradise for tourists, scholars and nature lovers.
The success achieved through political and economic reforms in Tanzania has made the country one of the most reliable partners for serious joint ventures in all types of investments. Endowed with rich natural resources, millions of acres of arable land, livestock rich fishing grounds, plenty of water and all types of minerals, Tanzania remains one of the most attractive destinations for potential investors.
This web site is by no means exhaustive. You may still wish to get specific information on some aspects or events in Tanzania. It is for this reason that a special page named Feedback has been prepared for you. You may therefore wish to pose any question to the Embassy seeking some additional information or some clarifications or even on an entirely new issue. The Embassy will try all it can to respond to you immediately.
I wish you a good tour of Tanzania. KARIBU SANA
Mr. Ali Abeid Aman Karume
AMBASSADOR
